Review: ThermaCELL Heated Insoles (great idea for Father's Day gift!)

I was offered a chance to try out these ThermaCELL Heated Insoles and I jumped at the chance!  I hate being cold...really, really hate it!  Winters in Michigan are not the place for me and my frozen toes, but yet here we are.   I would love be able to join the kids out in the snow, or at least be less concerned about getting frostbite and enjoy the 6 months of living in a freezer...so I was very excited to see if these would help!

Also, my husband has poor circulation, but for the past couple winters has been working in the brutal weather outdoors, and his feet are always freezing! I've been learning that it's important to save money where you can, so you can spend money where you want to, and if these things proved to be as great as they sounded, they could definitely be worth it!

I was worried that it would be too warm and I wouldn't get a good chance to really try them out, but we were "blessed" with another blast of cold weather.  ;)   I really liked having heat on my feet! I'm excited to actually use them when the weather really turns cold again and get out and play with the kids - without cold feet misery!  My husband really liked them too - the only "concern" he had was that you'd need enough room in your shoes to allow for the insoles.  He tried them with a pair of regular shoes and did not have enough room, but then tried them with his work boots and they were great. He said they were comfortable and warm!

I got a giggle out of an apparent misprint on my pair....I guess I do have two left feet. ;)

When I first opened the insoles I was anxious to try them out, so I just skipped the instructions and figured it out myself. My first thoughts were that they feel very sturdy - not flimsy at all, they are very user friendly, and it was really simple to see how to turn them on/off, how to charge them, and how to control the levels of heat. There's a cute little remote included that lets you choose "high, "low", or "no heat". The insoles are able to be trimmed to custom fit your tootsies, and are fully charged in 4 hours.

I've been given an offer to pass on to you guys that is a great gift idea for Father's Day! If you have a hunting, fishing, hiking, sledding, cold-weather kind of guy, head over to Thermacell and use the discount code "HEAT15" to get $20 off and free shipping for any pair of insoles on the site.  AND, a free car charger comes with the originals so that's almost a $48 savings! The code is good through June.  Obviously they won't be here tomorrow, but you could let your guy know they're coming and give him something to look forward to....especially once the temperature drops!  Have a happy Father's day!

Review and Giveaway: Purex Crystals ScentSplash

I love working with Purex as a Purex Insider....  They let me try out their new products, but best of all I get to give some away to you guys!

This time I got to try out Purex Crystals ScentSplash, an in-wash fragrance booster.  I've used the Purex Crystals for a few years now and we really like them, but I was looking forward to trying it in a liquid form! They are specially designed for use in both traditional and high-efficiency (HE) washers. Just add them directly into the washer with laundry before you start the wash.

It's super easy to use....just measure it using the lid on the bottle, and if you want a light scent just throw a little liquid freshness right into your washer, if you want a stronger scent use more! As I ran the first load I could smell the fresh laundry running right away as I made lunch upstairs!

This new fragrance product is currently available in 3 scents:

  • Fresh Spring Waters – Wade into cool, enchanting waters and give your laundry an incredible just-washed freshness that lasts for months.
  • Fresh Lavender Blossom – Wander through colorful, sun-lit fields of lavender and give your laundry an incredible just-washed freshness that lasts for months.
  • Fresh Mountain Breeze – Capture the exhilarating moment of a crisp, fresh breeze and give your laundry an incredible just-washed freshness that lasts for months.

Here's what I thought of it....love the cute little bottle, and pretty packaging - I love making something boring like laundry fun and attractive! I was given "Fresh Spring Waters" to try out, which wasn't my favorite scent personally, but from lots of experience with other Purex products I know that I'd love one of the other ones available!  I was only able to run a couple of loads with it because our washer broke (great timing, right??), so I don't know how long lasting it is yet, but it claims to last for months which is nice to have a fresh scent to counter some of the kid stink we have around here with a full house! =)

Now for the fun part! Time for you to enter to win a FREE product coupon for Purex Crystals ScentSplash that you can take to your local store and pick up a FREE bottle to try!

Review & Giveaway: Purex No Sort for Colors Laundry Detergent

I've been using my homemade laundry detergent for a couple years now, but Purex is my favorite detergent at the store and as a Purex Insider I get to try out and share the new products Purex rolls out - which I love!  Purex Baby and Purex Crystals are a couple of my favorites!!  Now, they have a new detergent to help simplify your laundry routine - and who doesn't need that??  It allows you to stop sorting clothes, by trapping loose dyes and reducing color bleeding accidents in your mixed color loads!

Every once in a while I have a half a load of lights and half a load of darks left....I'd love to finish the laundry but am a little nervous to run them together.  I thought I'd give this detergent a little test, so the first load I tried this on, I put light beige sheets and dark stinky (toddler/baby...ugh!) clothes together.  I'm not going to lie, I was a little apprehensive because the boys had a lot of really dark blue in that pile.  But I took it out of the washer, and not only did it work great on the baby pee-pants smell, but I didn't notice any bleeding stains at all!  Now I'll have no excuse not to finish the laundry since it can all go in together!  ....umm, wait a minute...

Seriously....a navy blue baby outfit, dark purple pillowcase,
beige sheets and white leggings -- all in the same load with no color bleeding at all!

*They do say it's not a miracle worker though, lol, so if you have new or strongly colored pieces of clothing (like jeans or reds...) it's recommended to do those first on their own a few times.

Now, onto my favorite part...a giveaway for you!!  Sign up here to win a FREE bottle of Purex No Sort for Colors detergent!!

Review: Entertainment Book (and a great deal today!)

I recently had the chance to review an Entertainment book - a book chock full of coupons!
(this post was actually delayed because I misplaced it, couldn't find it anywhere, and was so sad thinking that someone had maybe thrown it out by accident!  But I found it, so all is well...)

It's a very popular coupon book that's been around for 50+ years, so you've probably seen or used it yourself!  There are coupons to save money on restaurants, local attractions, hotels, travel, groceries and more -- you can also get access to online and mobile savings through the website and mobile app.  I think the book is organized well, making it easy to find what your looking for.

We don't go out a whole lot, so I wasn't sure how useful it would be for us, but I was happily surprised!  There are so many different categories the Entertainment book covers - lots of things that we definitely do use.....food (so much food!), movies, mini-golfing, renting cars, hotels, groceries....and the book doesn't expire until the end of the year so you have plenty of time to take advantage of the many offers.

They have 126 local Entertainment editions, covering every major city throughout North America.  The edition I have is for Grand Rapids (about 45 miles from here), but I was happy to find we can still use most of the coupons!  Many of them are for chain restaurants and stores that we have here, and the ones that are further away are perfect for when we travel or the hubzy and I have a date night.

They're good quality coupons too -- it includes hundreds of 50% off and two-for-one discounts!

If you're interested in getting your own, right now there's a great deal available.  For a limited time, their website is offering them for 50% off....orig. $35, now $17 -- and you can add a second book for $13!  Also,  Ebates is offering 16% cashback (double cashback right now!) on top of that!
So your first book is less than $14.50, and a 2nd book (for you or a friend) is not even $11.

Bottom Line: I think it's a great buy.  It would be easy to get your money's worth out of it if you *only* were to use 1-2 coupons!  But, with the huge selection I have no doubt you'd use more, for some super savings!
(It could also be an awesome gift idea for a friend who's moved to a new area!)
